The Medieval Catholic Church

Today the Roman Catholic Church contains the greatest amount of followers compared to any other type of Christianity in the world. However, in Medieval times it did not. Nor did it feature the picture of love and salvation it claims to represent today. The way the church is operated today differs hugely from the way it was previously run. Now, with freedom of religion, the church does not force anyone to share its beliefs; whereas in medieval times priests would perform forceful conversions on individuals who did not want them done. This time period was known as the Inquisition and took place all across Europe though it was most famous in Spain.
